It’s time for the kids to head back to school and that means it’s time to start filling those lunchboxes up again too. While there’s nothing wrong with the occasional sandwich for lunch, kids can get bored with them pretty quickly. Here are a few non-sandwich lunchbox ideas that your kids will love!

Taco Pockets
Do you have leftovers from taco Tuesday? Turn those leftover ingredients into taco pockets for a fun lunch the next day! Refrigerated pie crust, taco meat, cheese, and salsa are all you need for this quick recipe.

Chicken Ranch Wraps

These delicious chicken ranch wraps can be made with leftover grilled or rotisserie chicken, shredded cheese, ranch dressing, and tortillas. Your kids will love finding these wraps rolled up in their lunch box in place of a sandwich. 


Lunch Box Kabobs

Kids will love finding these tasty kabobs inside of their lunchboxes. You can change up the meats, cheeses, and vegetables to suit your children’s tastes. You could even add a few pieces of fruit to these kabobs for an even more well-rounded meal. 


Mini Corn Dog Muffins

If you want to make sure those lunch boxes get emptied, pack them up with these mini corn dog muffins. These are simple to make and kids absolutely love them. These also make a great after school snack! 


Chicken Pasta Salad

This salad is perfect served warm or cold and it’s packed full of chicken, vegetables, and pasta to keep those tummies full until school lets out. If you want to serve this chicken pasta salad warm just pack it in a thermos and it will still be warm at lunchtime. 


One Pot Mac & Cheese

This one pot mac & cheese is delicious and the kids will absolutely love it. You can make it your own by adding diced ham or chicken, even diced hot dogs, or some veggies! Pack it in their thermos for a delicious hot lunch you know they are going to eat!


Pizza Quesadillas

What kid doesn’t love pizza? These pizza quesadillas are easy to make and you can add their favorite pizza cheeses, vegetables, and meats. Make them in the morning and wrap them in foil for a warm lunch, or serve them cold if your kids like cold pizza. 


Ham & Cheese Pinwheels

These ham and cheese pinwheels are an easy to make ahead lunch idea that the kids are going to love. These make great appetizers and afterschool snacks too! You can serve these up with a side of ranch dressing or mustard for dipping too! 


Ham, Cheese, & Apple Wraps

School lunch doesn’t get any easier than this. Sliced apples. Sliced cheese, and ham wrapped around them both. This is a tasty and crispy lunch kids will love. You can also swap out the cheese or change the ham for turkey. 


Homemade Spaghettios

Surprise the kids with a hot lunch of a kid favorite…spaghettios! These homemade spaghettios only take six ingredients to make and they aren’t filled with a lot of processed ingredients so you can feel good about serving them to your family! 


PB&J Sandwich Kabobs

These peanut butter and jelly sandwich kabobs are sure to be a hit with your kids. A tortilla filled with peanut butter and jelly rolled up and cut into pinwheels. Slide the pinwheels along with their favorite fruits onto a kabob stick for a pretty lunch that is fun to eat! 


Your kids will love these lunches and you’ll know that they have something delicious and healthy to help them through their day. Sure, there will be days when they just get a sandwich, a bag of chips, and some fruit, but if you use these ideas you can keep them from getting bored with their lunches, and maybe even have them excited about them!
