Tips for Reducing Holiday Stress

Hi friends!

December is nearly here and along with all of the holiday parties and celebrations can come a lot of stress and anxiety. Particularly as mom’s we push ourselves to do all of the things and make every moment as magical as possible. Keep in mind though that the holidays are supposed to be magical for YOU too. Here are some tips for reducing holiday stress to get you through this busy season.

Start with a Plan

Take a few minutes and sit down and write out what is most important to you this holiday season. This can include which Christmas movies you want to watch with the kids, which treats you are going to make, what activities you want to do as a family, and events that you don’t want to miss. Having a written plan can give you a guide for the season, and help to keep your expectations realistic.

Have a Budget

So many families find themselves with loads of debt after the holiday season is over. You can try to avoid this by setting a budget for gifts, activities and events, and travel. Be sure to check around your community for free events like tree lightings, caroling, or stories with Santa. Not everything has to cost you an arm and a leg.

Be Prepared to Say No

Yes, it’s the holiday season, a time where family, community, and even work obligations pile up quickly. It’s okay if you can’t attend every event or party. The point of Christmas is togetherness, and being able to enjoy the spirit of the holidays.

Be Mindful Of Your Health

You aren’t going to be doing any of your favorite holiday activities if you get sick. Make sure that you stay hydrated, eat well, take your vitamins, and get plenty of sleep. Looking and feeling good will make the holidays so much more enjoyable.

Delegate

Mama you don’t have to do EVERYTHING yourself. Give your kids, spouse, and extended family members tasks to complete to help make the season more magical for everyone!

Shortcuts are Okay Too

These days there are a million and one ways to save time like grocery pick-up orders, or even having them delivered to your door. Who cares how the food, presents, and decorations get to your door as long as they arrive right?

Take Some Time for Yourself

It’s important to take some time for yourself during this busy time of year. Practice self-care, however that may look for you. Take a few minutes to just sit down and relax and enjoy the lights sparkling on the Christmas tree.

These are just a few simple ways that you can keep holiday stress to a minimum. Just remember mama, your kids are going to have an amazing holiday season and have memories for a lifetime no matter what. Nothing has to be perfect, you don’t have to attend every event, or hang every ornament for that to be true. Do make sure that you take lots of pictures though, they all grow up so fast

XOXO,
