5 Ways to make Valentine’s day special for your kids
Hi Friends,
Valentine’s day is nearly here! Time to show the special people in your life how much they mean to you, and that includes your kiddos! There are so many great Valentine’s day crafts and treats that you can make with your kids so that they can get in on the fun too.
You may have already planned how you are going to celebrate this Valentine’s day with your sweetheart, but how are you going to celebrate it with your little ones? It’s important for your kids to feel the love of this special day too! Here are some ways that you can make Valentine's day special for your kids this year.
Have a Special Valentine’s Day Breakfast
Start your kids day off full of love with a special Valentine’s day breakfast! Set the table and put out some decorations the night before after the kids go to bed. Make some of their favorite breakfast treats like pancakes! You could even add a little food coloring and make them in heart shapes to make them extra special.
As far as decorating goes, you don’t have to spend a fortune, just grab some inexpensive decoration from your local dollar store. You could also make your own. For example, cut out paper hearts, or make a paper chain to hang up with red, white, and pink construction paper.
Valentine’s Day Basket
One way we celebrate Valentine's day at the Motta home is with a Valentine’s day gift basket. I head to Target and hit the dollar days section for Valentine’s day pencils, erasers, socks etc. and maybe some candy. The girls love it, they are inexpensive and fun to put together and it lets my girls know I love them on Valentine’s day and every day!
You can put whatever you like in your gift basket, and if you don’t have a Target nearby, the local dollar store is a great option. They always have small stuffed animals, balloons on a stick, heart themed pens and notebooks, and of course…candy!
Have a Valentine’s Day Photo Shoot
Celebrate Valentine’s day with a special photo shoot at the house! You can let the kids get dressed up if they want to, and even create some fun Valentine’s day photo booth props. You can print your own photo booth props for free, here’s a link to some cute ones. You can also grab some great props at Target or the dollar store like red glittery hats, or a heart garland you can wear like a scarf!
Make Treats Together
I’ve already shared some of our favorite Valentine’s day treats or you can make your own. Get the kids in the kitchen with you to make some adorable Valentine’s day treats. You can even make enough to give some to their friends at school, share with the neighbors, or drop off some treats to your local first responders.
Have a Special Dinner
Start a new tradition with your kiddos and have a special Valentine’s day dinner together. You and your partner can always go out to dinner before or after Valentine’s day and the wait times will be a lot more reasonable too! LOL
Make a special dinner at home together and let the kids help. If they can’t help with the cooking let them help by setting the table, decorating some place cards for each person, or arranging some flowers. Not sure what to have? Here are a couple of ideas you might like:
This one pot creamy tomato pasta is easy to make, but looks and tastes “fancy” so it’s perfect for a special occasion like Valentine’s day. You can serve it with veggies or some French bread for a complete meal.
